Mid-Year Reflection: What Is Really Demanding Your Attention?

Jun 29, 2026

Can you believe we’re already halfway through the year?

If you’re anything like many of the leaders and professionals I work with, January likely began with ambitious goals, strong motivation, and a clear vision of success. Then reality set in. Projects accelerated. Priorities shifted. Meetings multiplied. Life, as it often does, stepped in.

That’s exactly why I love June.

Rather than viewing the halfway point as a reminder of what hasn’t been accomplished, I see it as one of the most valuable opportunities of the year to pause with intention and ask yourself a few important questions:

  • Am I still working toward the goals that matter most?
  • What has changed since January?
  • What do I need to stop doing, start doing, or do differently over the next six months?

Recently, during one of my weekly pro bono career conversations, I spent thirty minutes with a talented professional who came prepared with thoughtful questions and pages of notes. It was a powerful reminder that meaningful career progress doesn’t always come from dramatic change. More often, it comes from creating space to reflect, gain perspective, and make one or two intentional adjustments.

That’s why I continue to make time for these conversations. They allow me to give back, expand my network, and stay grounded in the reality that every career is a work in progress.

As many of us prepare for a well-deserved summer holiday, I encourage you to resist the temptation to simply switch off. Before you pack your suitcase, take an hour to invest in yourself.

  • Review your goals.
  • Acknowledge and celebrate the progress you’ve already made.
  • Notice where you may have drifted off course, without judgment.
  • Clarify what success will look like by December.

Then enjoy your vacation. Rest is productive. It creates the clarity, energy, and perspective that high performers need to lead well and perform at their best.

When you return in the autumn, don’t simply get busy again. Come back with intention, renewed focus, and a clear plan to finish the year stronger than you started.

The second half of the year still holds tremendous opportunity.

The question is not whether you have enough time. The question is whether you’ll use it intentionally.

As you take this moment to re-inventory where you are now and where you want to be for the remainder of the year, consider who is supporting you along the way. If we can be part of your support system, I invite you to reach out by scheduling a complimentary 15-minute consultation here:
